I’m Angie Hamilton, an Atlanta-based artist creating paintings inspired by the beauty and meaning found in the things we surround ourselves with.
Today, I create work for people who want their homes to feel personal, collected, and full of things that mean something to them. Whether I’m painting a collection, a wedding, or a commissioned piece, I’m always drawn back to the same idea: that art can hold a memory.
And maybe, years from now, one of my paintings can become one of those little familiar things that reminds someone of home.
My work is rooted in nostalgia: old textiles, collected china, flowers, antiques, familiar colors and patterns, and the small details that have a way of bringing a person, place, or moment rushing back. I’m fascinated by the fact that something doesn’t have to be particularly valuable or important to hold meaning. Sometimes it’s simply a pattern you remember from your grandmother’s house, the flowers that grew in a childhood garden, or a color that immediately feels like home. The small, lovely things that make up a life.
That sense of memory and connection has become the thread running through my paintings. My work combines florals, still life, pattern, and collected objects with a romantic, old-world sensibility and a contemporary looseness. I want each painting to feel layered and lived-in, like it might already have a history of its own.
My path to becoming an artist hasn’t been particularly traditional. With a background in fashion and retail and a career in real estate, I built my studio practice gradually, often painting at night after my son, Bobby, went to bed. What began as making space for something I loved has grown into original collections, exhibitions, commissions, and live wedding painting.
